Create a generic schedule in Product Designer

About this task

These steps describe how to add a generic schedule to the homeowners line of business using Product Designer. To create a scheduled clause, you create two clauses and link them together. The first represents the scheduled items and the second is the coverage.

This example adds a Scheduled Collectibles generic schedule to the Optional Coverages in homeowners. Each scheduled item has Description and Appraised Value fields.

Procedure

  • Define the scheduled item as a coverage
    1. In Product Designer, navigate to the Coverages page for Homeowners Line.
    2. To define the scheduled item, click Add to add a coverage. This example adds a Scheduled Collectible Item coverage.

    3. To define the fields in the schedule items, add one or more Terms to the scheduled item. This example adds an Appraised Value field for entering the monetary value of the collectible item. In general, define fields that are used for rating here because they are defined as coverage terms.

  • Define the scheduled coverage
    1. Navigate to the Coverages page for Homeowners Line and add a coverage for the schedule. This example adds a Scheduled Collectibles coverage on the HOPLine. This coverage appears on the Optional Coverages page.

      Includes Schedule You will reference the scheduled item you defined above. In the example, the scheduled item is the Scheduled Collectible Item coverage.

      This is a code for the undefined schedule that appears on the Schedule tab in Product Designer. You will use this to connect this coverage to the schedule coverage.

      You will receive two errors which you will correct in the following steps. One error reports that the schedule must define at least one schedule property. The other error reports that the Most Descriptive Property was not selected.
    2. Fix one of the errors by creating one or more Schedule Properties. This example creates a Description schedule property. In general, add schedule properties that do not affect rating here.

    3. Navigate to the Schedule tab and set the Most Descriptive Property to the Description schedule property you just defined. Set the item coverage to the Scheduled Collectible Item scheduled item you created previously.
