Cancellation general steps

The following diagram shows the basic steps in a manual cancellation in the default configuration of PolicyCenter. Your business requirements and lines of business can alter the process. For example, the steps may differ slightly between personal and commercial lines.



The steps are sequential:
  1. The insurer or insured wants to cancel the policy: The insured contacts the insurer to cancel the policy, or the insurer decides to cancel the policy.
  2. Begin cancellation: The user locates the policy and selects Cancel Policy in the user interface.
  3. Enter cancellation information: The user enters the Source, Reason, Refund Method, and Cancellation Effective Date.
  4. Schedule or do the cancellation now: If the user selects Schedule Cancellation, the status changes to Canceling. When the Transaction Effective Date is reached, the status changes to Canceled. If the user selects Cancel Now, the cancellation is bound and the status is Canceled.
