Prohibited operations during a rolling upgrade
| Prohibited operation | Notes |
|---|---|
| Archive or restore of data | Do not attempt to perform any kind of archiving operation, either archive or restore, while a rolling upgrade is in progress. PolicyCenter throws an exception on any attempt to do so. |
| Business rule deployment | Do not attempt to deploy business rules during a ruling upgrade. Guidewire recommends that you disable this application functionality during a rolling upgrade. |
| Import or export of administrative data | Do not attempt to either import or export administrative data during a rolling upgrade. Guidewire disables the ability to do so during a rolling upgrade. PolicyCenter throws an exception on any attempt to do so. |
| Load of staging tables | Do not attempt to load data from a staging table into PolicyCenter during a rolling upgrade. PolicyCenter disables the ability to load data from staging
tables during a rolling upgrade. During the rolling upgrade, PolicyCenter drops and recreates a staging table if it detects schema changes to the table. PolicyCenter does not track incremental changes to the staging tables, only the fact that the table changed. |
| Update of database statistics | Do not attempt to run or update database statistics during a rolling upgrade. |
| Write to new database column |
Do not attempt to write to a new database column (one added during the rolling upgrade operation itself) during the rolling upgrade. If you do attempt such a database write, PolicyCenter blocks the transaction and then throws an exception. The rolling upgrade is complete after you click Rolling Upgrade Complete in the (Server Tools) Upgrade and Versions screen. This action deletes the database flag associated with the rolling upgrade. Only then is the rolling upgrade complete. |
