General considerations for database synchronization
In working with database servers, Guidewire requires that you set the operating system of the PolicyCenter application server(s) and the operating system of the database server(s) to the same time zone.
In addition, Guidewire strongly recommends that you also do the following:
- Use the unambiguous convention of Macro-region/Region instead of the acronym for the time zone. For example, use Europe/Brussels instead of the acronym CET.
- Physically locate the application and database servers in the same geographic location. Locating the two servers in geographically distant locations increases the time that it takes the application server to query the database. It is possible for the latency between the two servers to impact performance. As a measure of this metric, Guidewire logs the time that it takes to verify access to the database at server start-up.
Synchronize the application server with the database clock. The maximum time difference allowed between the application server and database server is 29 minutes. If you use database clustering, synchronize all nodes in the database cluster with each other.
